Sertraline Tablets
A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) for depression and anxiety disorders.
Indications
Treatment of major depressive disorder, panic disorder, OCD and other anxiety disorders.
Dosage & administration
Usual starting dose 50 mg once daily, titrated to response. Do not stop abruptly.
Mechanism of action
Selectively inhibits serotonin reuptake, increasing synaptic serotonin availability.
Important safety information
- Monitor for worsening mood or suicidal ideation, especially early in treatment.
- Taper gradually to avoid discontinuation symptoms.
- Avoid concomitant MAO inhibitors.
