Montelukast Tablets
A leukotriene receptor antagonist for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Indications
Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, and relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
Dosage & administration
One tablet once daily in the evening; strength according to age. Not for acute asthma attacks.
Mechanism of action
Blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors, reducing airway inflammation and bronchoconstriction.
Important safety information
- Monitor for neuropsychiatric events and advise patients accordingly.
- Not a rescue medication for acute bronchospasm.
- Continue as prescribed even when asymptomatic.
