Azithromycin Tablets
A macrolide antibiotic for a range of susceptible respiratory, skin and genitourinary infections.
Indications
Treatment of susceptible infections of the respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, and certain STIs.
Dosage & administration
Typically 500 mg once daily for three days, or as directed. Complete the prescribed course.
Mechanism of action
Binds the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis.
Important safety information
- Use with caution in significant QT prolongation risk.
- Report severe or persistent diarrhoea.
- Avoid in known macrolide hypersensitivity.
