Amlodipine Tablets
A calcium-channel blocker for the treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina.
Indications
Treatment of hypertension and prophylaxis of chronic stable and vasospastic angina.
Dosage & administration
Usual starting dose 5 mg once daily, increased to 10 mg as needed. May be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of action
Inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, producing vasodilation.
Important safety information
- May cause peripheral oedema, flushing or headache.
- Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment.
- Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
